Tae Kwon-Do for Kids

There are many reasons for children to become involved in Tae Kwon-Do for example:

• They are being bullied
• They have low self-esteem
• They have no confidence
• They are lacking in co-ordination/motor skills
• They find it hard to make friends

Our children's program will teach your child core values such as discipline and respect. By starting at an early age, they will develop positive habits to last a lifetime. We believe in bringing out the best in your child and have designed our classes to be entertaining and informative.

With training in Tae Kwon-do, the content of the classes and the way they are run, the children will develop:

• Self Confidence – It doesn’t come naturally for many children, but rather is developed over a period of time. As a child accomplishes new goals, his or her confidence level increases. Children become more self confident in Tae Kwon Do because they progress individually at their own pace and are not judged against others. Children who acquire self-confidence at an early age are far more likely to succeed in their adult ambitions. Martial Arts training is arguably the best method of instilling confidence into children and at the same time emphasises the importance of respect and discipline.

• Self Defence – Children’s self defence takes many forms. Tae Kwon Do teaches children to think instead of panic in potentially serious situations as well as how to react to threats from other children.

• Better Grades – Being a Tae Kwon Do child means being a better student. All children in the Tae Kwon Do for children programme learn skills, such as following directions, paying attention in class, and participate in class activities that help them to become better students.

• Every child wins – In Tae Kwon Do every child can be a winner instead of a bench sitter because Tae Kwon-Do allows children to reach for their own potential rather than directly competing against other children.
• Co-ordination – Tae Kwon-Do challenges the entire body, developing coordination, balance, agility and poise…qualities often neglected in many team sports available to children in the age group.
• FUN – Tae Kwon-Do lessons are a dynamic and challenging approach to the martial arts for children who are athletic, energetic, awkward, or shy, cold, nice, or maybe a little wild once in a while.

As a result of the fast and exciting nature of Martial Arts there are thousands of children participating throughout the UK. And worldwide there are millions.

Our system of training is based on inner development and self-expression; concentration, focus, goal setting, and self-achievement are the topics of discussion. Motor skill development, co-ordination, flexibility and self-awareness are the basics to the physical training. The building blocks for our system are monthly themes such as:

• Goals • Friendship • Perseverance • Self control • Confidence
• Self improvement • Courtesy • Self Awareness • Respect
• Integrity • Self Esteem • Dedication

In addition to monthly themes, our system includes the unique achievement patch. Children are rewarded special achievement stars. These different coloured stars are rewarded for outstanding performance in Tae Kwon Do class, schools, home or at tournament competition. Children may receive the following stars for the following details:

Gold – straight A’s, achievements or significant improvement
Silver – Special performance awards
Blue – Monthly themes, weekly lessons, classroom performance
Red – Tournament participation

Four different coloured achievement patches are available to accommodate all the stars that can be earned by a high achieving Tae Kwon Do child.

Achievement Patches:
Blue – 0-24 stars
Silver – 25-49 stars
Gold – 50-99 stars
Blue/Gold – 100+ stars
